Gulfstream West Features $642,401 Rainbow 6 Carryover On Sunshine Millions Preview Day

The 20-cent Rainbow 6 went unsolved for the 29th consecutive racing day of Gulfstream Park West’s Fall Turf Festival Friday, producing a carryover jackpot of $642,401.66 for Saturday’s Sunshine Millions Preview program.

First-race post time is set for noon.

Multiple Rainbow 6 tickets with all six winners Friday were each worth $30,082.

The carryover jackpot is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.

The Rainbow 6 was solved at Gulfstream Park for a $2.2 million jackpot payoff Sept. 27 after going unsolved for 47 consecutive racing days.

There will also be a Super Hi-5 carryover of $2,416.79 heading into Saturday’s card.

Saturday’s program will offer nine stakes worth $675,000 in purses for Florida-bred horses.

The Rainbow 6 sequence will kick off with five consecutive $75,000 stakes and conclude with a mile turf race with a full field of $20,000 maiden claimers.

The Millions Classic, an early prep for the $200,000 Sunshine Millions Classic at Gulfstream Park Jan. 18, has been carded as Race 4 and will feature Mr. Jordan’s quest to win the 1 1/16-mile race for 3-year-olds and up for the fourth year in a row. The Eddie Plesa Jr.-trained 7-year-old gelding is undefeated in five starts, all stakes, at Gulfstream Park West.

The Millions Distaff, a seven-furlong sprint for fillies and mares carded as Race 2, drew a highly competitive field of six headed by multiple graded-stakes winner Stormy Embrace. The Kathleen O’Connell-trained 5-year-old mare, who has won back-to-back runnings of the $250,000 Princess Rooney (G2) at Gulfstream Park, will be challenged by Liza Star, who will seek her fifth victory in a row since being claimed out of a victory in a $6,500 claiming race at Gulfstream May 18. The Peter Walder-trained 5-year-old mare has won her last four races by a total of 21 ½ lengths.
