Gulfstream: Thursday’s Rainbow 6 Jackpot Pool Guaranteed At $400,000

The 20-cent Rainbow 6 will have its jackpot pool guaranteed at $400,000 when live racing returns to Gulfstream Park with a 10-race card Thursday, May 14.

First race post time is 1 p.m.

Thursday’s Rainbow 6 spans Races 5-10 and includes a maiden special weight going 1 1/16 miles on the grass in Race 6 which attracted a field of 16 fillies and mares 3 and up, and a six-furlong optional claiming allowance for older females topped by multiple stakes winner Bronx Beauty and four-time Grade 3-placed Pacific Gale.

The carryover jackpot is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.

Race 2 on Thursday’s program is a $65,000 maiden special weight for 2-year-old fillies sprinting 4 ½ furlongs. The narrow 2-1 program favorite is Go Jo Jo Go, a chestnut daughter of Khozan bred and owned by Gil Campbell’s Stonehedge LLC and trained by Michael Yates.

The field of seven first-time starters also features offspring of three freshman sires each represented by their first Northern Hemisphere runners, including another Stonehedge homebred in Rock With Robin, a daughter of Australian Group 1-winning millionaire Vancouver, listed at 7-2 on the morning line. Gulfstream Park West-based Kathleen O’Connell trains.

Drawing the rail is Mark Warnick’s Dannyhill (12-1), by Mshawish, a multiple graded-stakes winner of more than $2.4 million in purses that was a perfect 5-0 at Gulfstream for trainer Todd Pletcher topped by Grade 1 victories in the 2015 Gulfstream Park Turf Handicap and 2016 Donn Handicap.

Warnick and CM Thoroughbreds also own Firing Line filly Dancing in Fire, who will break from Post 2 and is also trained by Carlos Munoz. Firing Line was second in the 2014 Los Alamitos Futurity (G1) and won the 2015 Sunland Derby (G3) before running second in that year’s Kentucky Derby (G1) and seventh in the Preakness (G1).
