Gulfstream Rainbow 6 Carryover Tops $1.7 Million For Friday

The twilight racing season will be kicked off Friday with a nine-race program that will offer bettors the opportunity to make a life-changing score in the 20-cent Rainbow 6.

The popular multi-race wager went unsolved for the 36th consecutive racing day Thursday, producing a carryover jackpot of $1,718,182.66 for Friday’s card, which gets under way at 2:15 p.m. Tickets with six winners Thursday were each worth $10,328.64.

The carryover jackpot is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.

A total of $285,628 was wagered into the Rainbow 6 Thursday, when wagering on the six-race sequence started with a carryover of $1,649,859.45 from Monday’s card.

There will also be a Super Hi 5 carryover of $2,422.89 into Friday’s first race.

Gulfstream’s seventh and ninth races, both turf events, will be part of the Stronach 5, which will have a $100,000 guaranteed pool and an industry-low 12-percent takeout.
