Grade 1 Winner Stay Thirsty Sold; To Stand In California

Multiple Grade 1 winner Stay Thirsty has been sold and will relocate to Lovacres Ranch in California.

The BloodHorse reports that Terry Lovingier, owner of Lovacres Ranch, purchased Stay Thirsty outright from Ashford Stud.

“Stay Thirsty brings a ton of pedigree and is a big alternative to a lot of stallions out here,” Lovingier told the BloodHorse. “He is arguably the best stallion out here in terms of his race record. He provides one more opportunity for California breeders to get a good horse.”

Stay Thirsty is a 9-year-old son of Bernardini, out of Marozia, by Storm Bird. He was bred in Kentucky by John D. Gunther and John Darren Gunther and was race by Mike Repole. During his racing career, Stay Thirsty notched victories in the G1 Travers Stakes (2011) and G1 Cigar Mile (2012). He retired with a 5-5-1 record out of 17 starts and earnings of $1,936,000.
