Good Magic Tops 44 Invitees To $1 Million Haskell

Forty-four 3-year-olds were extended invitations Friday to the $1 million Haskell Invitational on Sunday, July 29, at Monmouth Park, with juvenile champion Good Magic heading the list of potential starters in the Grade 1 race. The Haskell is a “Win and You’re In” Challenge race for the Breeders’ Cup Classic this fall at Churchill Downs, so the winner earns an expenses-paid berth to the starting gate.

Trained by Chad Brown, Good Magic was the runner-up in the Kentucky Derby. Last year he burst onto the national scene when he captured the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile breaking his maiden in that Grade 1 event en route to his Eclipse Award.

Brown will be seeking his first victory in the Haskell Invitational, the track’s showcase event that is contested at a mile and an eighth.
