Golden Lad’s First Winner Scores At Laurel Park

The first winner for Maryland stallion Golden Lad came on July 27 when Hello Beautiful went gate-to-wire in a waiver maiden claiming race at Laurel Park to prevail by 5 1/2 lengths.

Hello Beautiful stopped the clock in 1:03.52 over Laurel’s fast main track, finding the winner’s circle for jockey Sheldon Russell, and owners Brittany Russell and Dark Horse Racing. Brittany Russell also trains the dark bay or brown filly.

Bred in Maryland by Hillwood Stables, Hello Broadway is out of the winning Tiznow mare Hello Now.

Golden Lad stands at Northview Stallion Station in Chesapeake City, Md., for an advertised fee of $5,000.

The 9-year-old son of Medaglia d’Oro won eight of 15 starts during his on-track career, highlighted by victories in the Grade 3 Razorback Handicap and Prairie Meadows Cornhusker Handicap, as well as the non-graded Mountainview Handicap and Essex Handicap.

Golden Lad is out of the stakes-winning Seeking the Gold mare Broadway Gold, making him a half-brother to Grade 1 winner Broadway’s Alibi and Grade 1-placed stakes winner R Gypsy Gold. Broadway Gold is herself a half-sister to Grade 1 winner and leading freshman sire Dialed In.
