Friday At Sam Houston: Picks And Analysis By Joe Nevills And Fred Faour For March 20 Card

Sam Houston Race Park might be running without an audience for the remainder of its meet, but the cards remain high-quality for fans and horseplayers to watch and bet from home.

Friday’s card features nine races, and opportunities for the leaders in the jockey and trainer colonies, David Cabrera and Steve Asmussen respectively, to pad their significant advantages heading into the final weeks of the season.

The card kicks off with stakes action for the Arabians, featuring a strong field for the $20,000 Darley Sprint Stakes. Among the entrants is Uptown Sandy Girl, a Darley Award finalist for Arabian racing’s 2019 Horse of the Year.

As usual, multi-race wagers at Sam Houston are offered at a 12 percent takeout. The full live card will be streamed here.

Here are Friday’s picks by Paulick Report bloodstock editor Joe Nevills and Fred Faour, ESPN personality and expert handicapper, with comments on their top selections.
