Frankie Goes To Hallandale: Dettori To Ride At Gulfstream Ahead Of Pegasus World Cup

Frankie Dettori will spend some time in the Florida sun ahead of the second running of the G1 Pegasus World Cup Jan. 27.

Racing UK reports that Dettori, who is the rider for Pegasus entrant Toast Of New York, will ride several horses for trainer Wesley Ward in the days leading up to the Pegasus.

Toast Of New York, a 7-year-old horse by Thewayyouare, had his most successful year at age three, when he won the G2 UAE Derby and was a close second in both the G1 Breeders’ Cup Classic and G1 Pacific Classic.

‘Toast’ had been retired to stud in Qatar, but covered few mares and was put back into training with Jamie Osborne. In his first start back, Toast Of New York won a conditions race at Lingfield in early December.
