First Winner For Lane’s End Sire Mr Speaker Comes In Puerto Rico

Lane’s End resident Mr Speaker notched his first winner at stud on May 12 when the filly Elegancia won a maiden special weight by five lengths at Hipodromo Camarero in Puerto Rico, BloodHorse reports.

The bay filly broke in the air, but quickly made up ground in the five-furlong race, taking command after three furlongs and extending her lead under jockey Benjamin Lopez. Elegancia stopped the clock in 1:00.66 over a fast track for owner C.A. Cuprill Stable and trainer Carlos Navarro.

Bred in Kentucky by St. Elias Stable, Elegancia is out of the stakes-winning Pivotal mare Jazz Jam.

Mr Speaker, an 8-year-old son of Pulpit, stands at Lane’s End in Versailles, Ky., for an advertised fee of $10,000.

His on-track achievements includes victories in the Grade 1 Belmont Derby Invitational Stakes, the G2 Commonwealth Cup Stakes, and the G3 Lexington Stakes and Dania Beach Stakes.
