First Foal Is A Colt For Shadwell Farm’s Mohaymen

Four-time Grade 2 winner Mohaymen‘s first reported foal was a colt born Jan. 29 at Hidden Brook Farm near Paris, Ky.

Bred by Danica Cochran, the colt is the first foal out of the winning Tale of the Cat mare, Taleoftheprincess. The mare is out of the stakes winner Frost Princess, who is half-sister to graded-placed stakes winner Bundling (by Believe It), stakes-placed Moony Moony (Cahill Road), and multiple stakes producer Good Lovin’ (by Smarten).

Mohaymen covered a full book last season, with 94 mares reported in-foal. He stands at Shadwell Farm in Lexington, Ky., for an advertised fee of $7,500.

The 6-year-old son of Tapit won five of 13 starts during his on-track career for earnings of $998,417. His record is highlighted by victories in the G2 Nashua Stakes, Remsen Stakes, Holy Bull Stakes, and Fountain of Youth Stakes.

A $2.2-million purchase at the 2014 Keeneland September Yearling Sale, Mohaymen is out of the G2-winning Dixie Union mare Justwhistledixie. He is a half-brother to Breeders’ Cup Juvenile winner New Year’s Day, from the family of G2 winners Chace City, Pok Ta Pok, Smooth Air, and Overdriven.
