First Foal Is A Colt For Ashford Stud’s Cupid

The first foal by Grade 1 winner Cupid was born Jan. 13 at Los Samanes Polo and Racing Farm in Ocala, Fla., when the El Prado mare Miss Prado had a bay colt.

Miss Prado, a G1-placed runner in Puerto Rico, is also the dam of multiple stakes winner Euro Platinum and six-figure earner Garburetor.

Cupid stands at Coolmore’s Ashford Stud in Versailles, Ky., where he advertised for a fee of $12,500 for the 2019 breeding season. He was the second-most active stallion of the 2018 breeding season, with 223 reported mares bred.

A 6-year-old son of Tapit, out of the Beau Genius mare Pretty ‘n Smart, Cupid won six of 13 starts during his on-track career for earnings of $1,701,873. His resume is highlighted by victories in the G1 Gold Cup at Santa Anita Stakes, the G2 Rebel Stakes, West Virginia Derby, and Indiana Derby, and the non-graded Harry F. Brubaker Stakes.
