Ete Indien’s Florida Derby Performance Was Hindered By Cuts To Hind Leg, Lost Shoe

Ete Indien finished third in last Saturday’s Grade 1 Florida Derby at Gulfstream Park, beaten five lengths by Tiz the Law after leading on the backstretch. The performance drew criticism from one individual on Twitter, prompting assistant trainer Andie Biancone to respond.

I think running 3rd with a cut up hind leg, lost shoe, and a grabbed heel is pretty above average to me but to each his own 🤷🏻‍♀️ pic.twitter.com/QMS8tum3Uq

Trained by her father, Patrick Biancone, Ete Indien won the G2 Fountain of Youth Stakes and ran second in the G3 Holy Bull earlier this year. The 3-year-old son of Summer Front was a $269,640 purchase at the 2019 Arqana breeze-up sale, and he has won three of his six lifetime starts to earn a total of $405,156.
