Espinoza Transported To Hospital After Bobby Abu Dhabi Fatality

An apparent cardiac event took the life of Grade 2 winner Bobby Abu Dhabi at Del Mar on Sunday morning, and the incident also sent Hall of Fame jockey Victor Espinoza off the track in an ambulance. According to bloodhorse.com, the rider was able to move his extremities, but was complaining of shoulder pain, tingling and numbness en route to the Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla.

After the fall, Espinoza remained still until paramedics arrived to fit him with a neck brace and lift him into the ambulance on a back board.

Bobby Abu Dhabi was breezing ahead of a start in the July 28 Bing Crosby Stakes. The son of Macho Uno is trained by Peter Miller for Rockingham Ranch and David Bernsen.
