Dual Group 1 Winner The Grey Gatsby To Stand At Haras Du Petit Tellier

Hard-knocking Group 1 winner The Grey Gatsby has been retired and will stand the 2018 breeding season at  Haras du Petit Tellier in Normandy, France.

The Racing Post reports that the 6-year-old son of Mastercraftsman won four times and finished in the money a total of 13 times in his 28 career starts. The Grey Gatsby earned £2.7 million during his four-year career.

As a 3-year-old, The Grey Gatsby won the G1 Prix du Jockey-Club and the Irish Champion Stakes, beating Epsom Derby hero Australia in the latter.

According to the Post, The Grey Gatsby will stand for €7,000 at Petit Tellier; the stud is in the process of syndicating the horse.

Stud owner Patrick Chedeville said, “The Grey Gatsby was a wonderful racehorse with good conformation and temperament; just a very well-balanced individual.”

“He will be a valuable new stallion in France from the Danehill line, which is not seen in France as much as in the rest of Europe, especially in Ireland.”
