Dettori Nails Royal Ascot Trio, Suspended Seven Days For Whip Use

Top class jockey Frankie Dettori won three races on opening day at Royal Ascot for trainer John Gosden: the Group 2 Coventry Stakes aboard Calyx, the Group 1 St. James’s Palace aboard Without Parole, and the Wolferton Stakes on Monarchs Glen.

After the day’s races, the British Horseracing Authority announced that Dettori would be suspended seven days and fined £4,300 for over-use of the whip in his win aboard Without Parole. The suspension will take place from July 3 through July 9, 2018.

Also earning a two-day suspension for whip use in the St. James’s Palace Stakes was jockey Donnacha O’Brien, aboard second-place finisher Gustav Klimt.
