Dam Of Constellation Leads Second Session Of Keeneland November At $2.1 Million

The second and final session of Book 1 of the Keeneland November Sale got underway today at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Hip Nos. 180 – 366A are scheduled to go through the sales ring.

Keeneland concluded the first session of its November Breeding Stock Sale Tuesday with relatively steady figures. Gross receipts of $42,304,000 were down 16 percent from last year, but the number of head sold was also down 17 percent. Average price of $440,667 increased 1 percent and the median rose 15 percent to $300,000.

  • Hip 181Wapi (CHI), got things started off fast early, bringing $1,050,000 from Don Alberto Corp. The daughter of Scat Daddy, out of Seeker’s Reward mare We Can Leave is from the family of champions Week Can Seek (CHI) and Weekend Trip. Wapi sold in foal to Curlin and was consigned by Hill ‘n’ Dale Sales Agency.
  • Hip 204Belle Watling, sold for $1,050,000 to Jane Lyon of Summer Wind Farm. The Pulpit mare is the dam of graded stakes winners War Story and Land Over Sea, and comes from the family of Yoursmineours and Shared Property. Brookdale consigned the mare, who is in foal to Curlin, as agent for Jack Swain.
  • Hip 238Enchanted Rock, raised $2,000,000 from White Birch Farm, with Chad Brown signing the ticket. Consigned by Gainesway, the daughter of Giant’s Causeway is from the family of Waldoboro and Tara Roma, and is the dam of El Padrino and Verrazano. She sold in foal to More Than Ready, which means she carries a full sibling to Verrazano.
  • Lyon also signed the ticket on Hip 244For Royalty, for $2,100,000. The daughter of Not For Love is the dam of Back Flip and Constellation and is pregnant on a cover from Bernardini. Denali Stud consigned the mare.
