Connections Of 40 Breeders’ Cup Runners Pledge Portion Of Winnings To New Vocations

A growing list of prominent owners and trainers are stepping up to support aftercare by participating in the New Vocations Breeders’ Cup Pledge. Now in its eighth year, the Pledge has raised over $420,000, with 100 percent of funds raised supporting the program’s rehabilitation, retraining and rehoming efforts.

“I am thrilled to pledge my support to New Vocations aftercare efforts,” said pledging owner Sol Kumin. “I know how important it is to look after our equine athletes in their second careers.  I will continue my efforts for this important cause.  Anna and her team do an incredible job leading the charge.”

To date, 40 Championship contenders have owners and/or trainers who have pledged a percentage of their Breeders’ Cup earnings.  Leading the list is Bridlewood Farm’s morning line favorite, Moonshine Memories, and Head of Plains amazing comeback mare Lady Eli.  Additional Pledge participants include Bob Baffert, Bridlewood Farm, China Horse Club, James Covello, Michael Dubb, Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners, eFive Racing Thoroughbreds, Klaravich Stables, Sol Kumin, Robert LaPenta, LNJ Foxwoods, Monomoy Stables, Graham Motion, My Meadowview Farm, Ralph Nicks, John and Debby Oxley, Todd Pletcher, Sheep Pond Partners, StarLadies Racing, Stonestreet Stables, Jonathan Thomas, Bradley Thoroughbred Partners and West Point Thoroughbreds Inc.

“We are very thankful for all the owners and trainers who are participating in this year’s Pledge. Funds raised through the Pledge are vital as the number of horses needing our services continues to grow. The more money we raise, the more horses we can serve. The Pledge is a win-win situation for owners, trainers and the horses we all love so much,” said New Vocations Program Director Anna Ford.

New Vocations will continue to seek pledges from additional owners and trainers until November 3rd.  All of the Pledge information can be found at www.newvocations.org.
