Close But No Cigar: $2.7-Million Rainbow 6 Jackpot Continues To Build

The 20-cent Rainbow 6 carryover jackpot swelled to $2,683,572.61 for Friday’s 11-race program after going unsolved for the 27th straight program Thursday at Gulfstream Park.

Three horses were live to take down the jackpot heading into Thursday’s finale, a five-furlong turf sprint won by Domenic ($20.80). Multiple tickets with all six winners returned $14,774.92.

A total of $441,770 was wagered into the pool for the popular multi-race wager, which began with a carryover of $2,577,573 from Wednesday’s card. The Rainbow 6 was last hit Jan. 28, when the mandatory payout of a North American record $19.779 million pool produced multiple winning tickets worth $15,566.

The carryover jackpot is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.

Friday’s Rainbow 6 spans Races 6-11. There will also be a carryover of $3,367.76 in the $1 Super Hi-5 for Friday’s opener.

First race post time is 12:35 p.m.
