Classic-Winning Trainer Noseda Announces Retirement At 55

Multiple Grade/Group 1-winning trainer Jeremy Noseda stunned the racing world this week when he announced his retirement from training at the age of 55.

“The time is right for me to walk away,” a tweet from Noseda’s account read Thursday. “I will be leaving the sport with a smile on my face and with a lot of great memories.”

Noseda retires the winner of 14 Grade/Group 1s, including the St. Leger with Sixties Icon in 2006 and the Irish 2,000 Guineas and St. James’s Palace with Araafa. He also picked up a win in the 2004 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile with Wilko.

According to the Racing Post, began training in 1997 after working as an assistant in the Godolphin stables, as well as under John Gosden and John Dunlop. He has been based at Shalfleet Stables in Newmarket since 1998.
