Charming Kitten To Enter Stud At Indiana’s Breakway Farm

Charming Kitten, a Grade 3-winning son of Kitten’s Joy, will begin his stallion career at Breakway Farm in Dillsboro, Ind., BloodHorse reports.

The 10-year-old retired with eight wins in 33 starts and earnings of $1,018,701, racing as a homebred for Ken and Sarah Ramsey.

He ran third in the Grade 2 With Anticipation Stakes as a juvenile, then bounced between dirt and turf, notching a grass win in the listed Kitten’s Joy Stakes at Gulfstream Park and seconds in G3 Palm Beach Stakes and listed Dania Beach Stakes at the same track. The colt moved to the main track for the G1 Blue Grass Stakes, where he finished third and earned a spot in the field in the 2013 Kentucky Derby, running ninth.

After a run at the classics, Charming Kitten returned to the turf for his primary racing surface, eventually notching a win in the G3 W.L. McKnight Handicap, along with the non-graded Belmont Gold Cup Invitational Stakes and H. Allen Jerkens Stakes.

Charming Kitten is out of the placed Wild Again mare Iteration, and he is a full-brother to Grade 3-placed stakes winner Queen’splatekitten

Because Charming Kitten entered the breeding shed in the middle of the season, he will stand the remainder of 2020 at no charge, then he will begin the 2021 season for an advertised fee of $2,000.
