Champagne Room: Hairline Fracture Of Coffin Bone May Be Career-Ending

Champion juvenile filly of 2016, Champagne Room recently suffered a hairline fracture to the coffin bone in her foot. According to bloodhorse.com, trainer Peter Eurton said that the injury could be the end of the 4-year-old filly’s racing career.

“It’s nothing life threatening. She’s just going to need some time off,” the trainer said. “There are a couple of offers on the table for the owners to entertain, but I’m out of that loop right now.”

After taking the Sorrento and Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies in 2016, Champagne Room missed much of 2017. She won a listed stake at Remington Park before finishing sixth in the Breeders’ Cup Distaff, then ended the year with a second in the G2 Bayakoa. Champagne Room’s earnings currently stand at over $1.4 million.
