Castellano Back In Quarantine To Meet Oaklawn Restrictions For Arkansas Derby Weekend

Hall of Fame jockey Javier Castellano has to return to quarantine in order to meet Oaklawn Park requirements for riding on Arkansas Derby weekend in Hot Springs, reports drf.com.

Castellano was asymptomatic but tested positive for the coronavirus on March 24, and subsequently went into quarantine for two weeks at his mother’s apartment in Florida. The jockey was able to return home to his family in New York on April 7, but flew back to Florida on Thursday when he learned of Oaklawn’s restrictions.

In the $1 million Arkansas Derby on May 2, Castellano is booked to ride Farmington Road for trainer Todd Pletcher. He is also scheduled to ride 2-year-old champion British Idiom in the May 1 Fantasy Stakes.
