Carolina Equine Sports Medicine Symposium To Be Held In Pittsboro, NC

The Carolina Equine Sports Medicine Symposium will be held at the Chatham County Agricultural Center in Pittsboro, NC, on June 29 and 30, 2019. Hosted by the Equine Podiatry Education Foundation (EPEF), the goal of this educational opportunity is to offer “thought-provoking lectures, demonstrations and discussions related to practical and futuristic ideas related to equine sports medicine.” The two-day event is open to all horse owners and trainers, as well as to those in the veterinary field as well as other professional equine caregivers.

The sessions include physical exams, post-injury care, laser therapy, tissue regeneration, trends in strength and conditioning and much more. Speakers include Dr. Antonio Luciana, Dr. Peter Friesen, Dr. Meghann Lustgarten, Dr. David Jensen and Peter Healey.

The mission of the EPEF is to foster research and education with respect to diseases, abnormalities and health of the equine foot of pleasure, sporting and working horses. Our goal is to develop a uniform standard of treatment through research-based information which can be provided to veterinarians, farriers and horse owners in an effort of achieving a meaningful reduction of lameness.
