Camacho Filly Tops Part II Of Tattersalls Ireland Yearling Sale

A Camacho filly (Lot 576) sold by Nicola Kent from the Kent family’s long nurtured pedigree of the 1,000 Guineas winner Pass The Peace topped the Tattersalls Ireland September Sale Part II when selling to Luke Lillingston for €32,000 ($37,286 U.S. dollars).

“She has been bought for Kennet Valley Thoroughbreds,” said Lillingston. “She is a lovely filly with size, substance and a good walk. I have always been a fan of Camacho and he has really come of age this year. The Kent family has had this pedigree since the 1980s with Pass The Peace and Nicola is a great producer of a horse.”

The popularity of this year’s leading first-season sire No Nay Never continues apace and his filly out of the Kyllachy mare Surrey Pink (Lot 641) was bought by Joe Foley for €30,000 ($34,954).

“She is a great example of the sire, who is doing very well. We know the family and she is for Clipper,” said Foley of the Glenard Stables-consigned filly.

The March-born filly is from the family of the Group 1 sprinter Dream Ahead, the G1 Cheveley Park Stakes runner-up Princess Noor and the Listed-winning juvenile Fairyland.

The most expensive colt of the day was the son of Epaulette (Lot 624) sold by Mocklershill Stables to Watree Stud for €25,000 ($29,131). He is out of Social Set, a Key Of Luck full-sister to the dam of the multiple Group 1-winning sprinter Society Rock.

Through the one-day sale 172 horses sold for a gross of €1,241,300 ($1,446,429), a median of €5,000 ($5,825) and an average price of €7,217 ($8,409).

“Today’s trade was not forgiving. Reflecting the polarised nature of the market the trend remains that there is demand for individuals that satisfy strict criteria.  Unfortunately, for breeders in particular, limited demand exists at the lower levels,” said Matt Mitchell, CEO of Tattersalls Ireland.

Entries for the Flat Foal and Breeding Stock Sale close this coming Monday, 1 October 2018.
