Calling Time: Jockey David Flores Retiring From The Saddle

After over three decades in the saddle, jockey David Flores has decided to retire.

The Daily Racing Form reports that Flores plans to ride at Del Mar at least through Friday, if not through the weekend. He then plans on relocating to Ocala to begin a training operation that will focus on pinhooking yearlings.

“For me, it's a transition from being a jockey for 33 years to doing something that is new but a full-time job,” Flores told the DRF Wednesday.

“I want to retire. I had a great career and I want to end it at Del Mar. I started here in 1989 when I moved from Tijuana. I got my license here and I want to end it here, too.”

Flores plans on spending some time with family before heading to Ocala in early August.
