California Stallion Tom’s Tribute Gets First Winner At Golden Gate

California stallion Tom’s Tribute was represented by his first winner on Friday when Ecologist won the fourth race at Golden Gate.

Ecologist is out of the Exchange Rate mare Lady Katfish, was bred by owner DP Racing and trained by Sherrie Monroe.

The 3-year-old gelding ran the 5 1/2 furlongs in 1:04.08 and won by 1 1/2 lengths in his debut at odds of 47-1.

Tom’s Tribute stands at Rancho San Miguel in San Miguel, Calif., for an advertised fee of $2,000.

The 10-year-old son of Lion Heart won six of 16 starts during his on-track career for earnings of $634,880. His resume is highlighted by victories in the Grade 1 Eddie Read Stakes and G2 Del Mar Mile Handicap.

Bred in Kentucky by Laura M. McKinney and Ouisha McKinney, Tom’s Tribute is out of the stakes-placed El Prado mare Halloween Fun.
