California Chrome, Football Great Ray Lewis Embroiled In Lawsuit Over Pegasus World Cup/Bourbon Sponsorship

Former NFL linebacker Ray Lewis has been named in a lawsuit filed by an advertising agency representing two-time Horse of the Year California Chrome.

According to a report at MSN.com, the lawsuit was filed by the Leverage Agency, a company that sells sponsorships at major sporting events. The company is suing Lewis and the makers of Ray’s Reserve bourbon, stating that Ray’s Reserve had agreed to pay $50,000 to sponsor California Chrome in the Pegasus World Cup Invitational last January.

Leverage Agency claims Ray’s Reserve had agreed to pay $25,000 in cash and $25,000 in bourbon, but the company says it never received either the cash or bourbon. Lewis’ attorney said that his client had no involvement in the deal, and has nothing to do with Ray’s Reserve, other than letting the bottling company use his name.
