Caledonia Road’s Sophomore Debut Delayed Due To Ankle Chip

Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies’ winner Caledonia Road will have her 2018 debut delayed slightly after having surgery to remove a chip from a front ankle.

The Daily Racing Form reports that the chip was discovered several days after her successful Breeders’ Cup run.

“She seemed to come out of the Breeders’ Cup fine, but eight days later her ankle got puffy,” trainer Ralph Nicks told the Form.

Nicks said that while Caledonia Road had resumed jogging at Palm Meadows, he conceded that the setback could make it difficult to make the G1 Kentucky Oaks on May 4.
