Breeders’ Cup Classic, Clark Handicap Possible Targets For Pennsylvania Derby Winner McKinzie

Following his victory in the Pennsylvania Derby Saturday, McKinzie is headed back to California, where trainer Bob Baffert will contemplate the colt’s next race.

Baffert told the Daily Racing Form he’s looking at either the Breeders’ Cup Classic Nov. 3 or the Clark Handicap Nov. 23, both at Churchill Downs.

In the Pennsylvania Derby, McKinzie was making his first start in more than six months. Originally Baffert’s top Kentucky Derby contender, the son of Street Sense was injured following the San Felipe Stakes March 10, a race in which Bolt d’Oro was DQ’d and placed second behind McKinzie.
