Big Risk, Big Win: Online Bettor Hits Record $312,000 Jackpot At Canterbury

A single bettor had a record payday Thursday when he became the only person to hit the Final Five Jackpot at Canterbury Park.

The Star Tribune reports that the winning ticket, which was played online, was worth $312,130.90. The Final Five wager requires the horseplayer to pick the winners of the final five races on the card, Races 6 through 10. The Star Tribune reports that the bettor played every horse in the first four races, then had two horses in the seven-horse finale.

Jeff Maday, the publicist at Canterbury, told the Star Tribune that the winning ticket, which was played online through Xpressbet, cost $1,920. It was noted that had all the favorites won, the winning ticket would've only paid around $100.

The previous record payout at Canturbury was on a $2 Pick Six that returned $222,812 in 1986.
