Biancone Triple Crown Prospects, $2.3 Million Jackpot Guarantee Wednesday At Gulfstream

The 20-cent Rainbow 6 jackpot pool will be guaranteed at $2.3 Million Wednesday at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Fla.

The popular multi-race wager went unsolved for the 18th consecutive racing day Sunday, when multiple tickets with all six winners were each worth $29,043.10.

The carryover jackpot is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.

Wednesday’s Rainbow 6 sequence will span Races 5-10, including an allowance for 3-year-olds in the Race 9 feature.

The Patrick Biancone-trained duo of Ete Indien, the Fountain of Youth (G2) winner and Florida Derby (G1) third-place finisher at Gulfstream, and Sole Volante, the Sam F. Davis (G3) winner and Tampa Bay Derby (G2) runner-up, have been entered in the mile allowance, which will also feature Florida Derby runner-up Shivaree’s return to action.

Stakes winners Soros and With Verve, as well as recent winners Jesus’s Team, and Hard Lighting, are also entered.

The Rainbow 6 sequence will be kicked off by a five-furlong maiden special weight race for 2-year-old fillies on turf.  Trainer Wesley Ward has two entrants – Amanzi Yimpilo, an Irish-bred daughter of No Nay Never who was bought at the 2019 Keeneland September sale for $300,000, and Shan’s Tiger, a daughter of Tale of the Cat owned by breeder Rodney Orr.

Trainer Todd Pletcher will be represented by Lady Quintessa, a daughter of Munnings, while trainer Mark Casse will send out Baby Mo, a daughter of Upstart.

La Australiana Pulls off 14-1 Upset in Sunday’s Treasure Coast
La Australiana surged late with a wide rally to pull off a 14-1 upset victory in Sunday’s $60,000 Treasure Coast at Gulfstream Park.

Trained by Juan Carlos Avila and owned by former MLB All-Star Victor Martinez, the connections of Kentucky Derby (G1) prospect King Guillermo, La Australiana rated well off the early pace that was contested by Always Shopping and Helping Lisa D through early fractions of 23.46 and 46.89 seconds for the first half-mile of the 1 1/8-mile overnight turf stakes for fillies and mares.

Jockey Leonel Reyes sent La Australiana seven-wide leaving the turn into the homestretch, and the 4-year-old daughter of Australia kicked in through the lane to prevail over a late rallying Olympic Games by a neck. Zarina finished third another 1 ¼ lengths back.

La Australiana ran 1 1/8 miles over a firm turf course in 1:47.63 to notch her first stakes victory.
