Ayr Gold Cup Rescheduled For Sept. 30 At Haydock Park

Following the cancellation of the Ayr Gold Cup meeting due to a waterlogged course, the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) and Haydock Park racecourse have today confirmed that the Ayr Gold Cup race has been rescheduled to take place at Haydock Park on Saturday, Sept. 30. 32Red will be the new sponsors of the race.

Full details regarding the race, including the official race title, value and entry procedures will be confirmed on Monday. There will be no special draw for the race and the standard automated draw allocation will be in operation, and the race will have a maximum safety factor of 17 runners.

The BHA is grateful to Jockey Club Racecourses, the new sponsors 32Red and the Horserace Betting Levy Board (HBLB) for their contributions to saving this important and historic race, which has been run since 1804.

Richard Wayman, Chief Operating Officer for the BHA, said:

“We are delighted that the Ayr Gold Cup – which is such an important betting race – has been saved and will be run at Haydock Park on 30 September. Great credit and a thanks must go to the new sponsors 32Red, the Horserace Betting Levy Board (HBLB) and Jockey Club Racecourses for their financial support and ITV Racing for agreeing to incorporate the race to their schedule.”

Kirkland Tellwright, North West Head of Racing for Jockey Club Racecourses and Clerk of the Course for Haydock Park, said:

“We’re pleased to be able to support horsemen and host the Ayr Gold Cup at Haydock Park following the unfortunate abandonment of the fixture. 32Red sponsors a number of major races at Jockey Club Racecourses and we’re delighted that they have been able to lend their support to this special race. Our TENsational Finale Day next Saturday is an exciting card with plenty of top class runners lining up.”
