Australian Racing Bodies Stepping Up To Help Those Affected By Fires

Multiple horse racing entities are trying to help horse owners and racing stakeholders as wildfires continue to batter the east coast of Australia. Racing Victoria has opened relief centers in three areas to provide assistance to those who have been affected by the fires.

Racing NSW has created an emergency relief package for trainers, owners and jockeys. This funding is available as the races meets have been cancelled because of the fires, limiting income-earning opportunities. Financial support will also be provided to participants directly impacted by the bushfires. The organization has been in contact with racing participants to assist with immediate needs, including replacing or replenishing supplies and equipment.

Racing Victoria (RV) has pledged its support to helping all people and horses, not just Thoroughbreds, affected by the fires, for as long as needed. RV stated that it is constantly reviewing, amending and rescheduling race meets in areas affected by heat or smoke from the fires. RV will compensate those affected by cancelled race meets.
