Arrogate Works Seven Furlongs Toward San Diego

Juddmonte Farm's Arrogate was on-track early Saturday morning at Santa Anita, breezing seven furlongs in 1:25.60 just before 7 a.m. Trainer Bob Baffert called the surface “kind of deep” at the time of the colt's work, according to

The 4-year-old son of Unbridled's Song was ridden by his normal work partner Martin Garcia, and Santa Anita clockers caught the pair in splits of :25.20, :49.20, 1:01.20, and 1:13.40. Arrogate galloped out a mile in 1:38.

Winner of seven of his eight starts, including the Breeders' Cup Classic, Pegasus World Cup and Dubai World Cup, Arrogate has not raced since late March. Baffert has suggested that he will be ready to run in time for the July 22 G2 San Diego Handicap at Del Mar, a prep for the TVG Pacific Classic on Aug. 19.
