Along For The Ride: Mike Smith To Wear Helmet Camera In Breeders’ Cup

Racing fans will be able to get ‘up close and personal’ during several of the Breeders’ Cup races this weekend, via jockey Mike Smith, who has agreed to wear a small camera on his helmet.

The Associated Press reports that NBC and NBCSN will incorporate the ‘Jockey Cam’ into the live coverage this weekend. The camera can deliver high-definition video and pictures, and weighs just 2.6 ounces.

NBC Sports Group coordinating producer Rob Hyland told the AP that the camera will bring viewers a “fresh perspective” of the races and will allow them to see the “quick decisions a jockey must make during a race.”
