$750,000 Guaranteed Jackpot Pool Sunday In Gulfstream’s Rainbow 6

After going unsolved for the third consecutive racing day since a mandatory payout April 19, the 20-cent Rainbow 6 jackpot pool will be guaranteed at $750,000 Sunday at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Fla.

Post time for the 11-race program is 12:55 p.m.

Multiple tickets with all six winners Saturday each returned $3,196.58. The sequence included victories by favored Dr Post in the $75,000 Unbridled Stakes for 3-year-olds and Global Campaign in a stakes-quality third-level optional claiming allowance in Race 11.

The jackpot is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the next day’s jackpot pool.

Sunday’s Rainbow 6 spans Races 6-11 and includes the featured 10th, an entry-level optional claiming allowance for 3-year-olds and up sprinting six furlongs over the main track. Homewrecker Stable’s Hop Kat, a sophomore son of Stay Thirsty unraced since romping to an eight-length debut score last May, is the narrow 5-2 program favorite in his return.

Five of the eight horses in the field are 3-year-olds, including Kathy Ritvo-trained stablemates Ournationonparade (3-1), winless in two starts this year since taking the Maryland Million Nursery in his juvenile finale in October at Laurel Park, and Double Crown (9-2), who beat Ournationonparade in their respective debuts last September.

Notes: Jockey Luis Saez, who took over the spring-summer meet lead with three wins Friday, added three more on Saturday aboard Lanse Mitan ($4.40) in Race 3, Venezuelan Hug ($5.60) in Race 7 and Scars Are Cool ($11) in Race 8.
