$421,150 Payout In Santa Anita’s Single Ticket Rainbow Pick 6

Owner/trainer Bruce Headley’s 12-1 longshot Zillinda, one of five “live” horses in Santa Anita’s popular 20 cent Single Ticket Rainbow Pick 6 Jackpot, rolled late to best nine rivals in winning Sunday’s eighth and final race, triggering a massive $421,150.70 Jackpot payout at the Arcadia, Calif., track. The single winning ticket was purchased for $1,728 through Xpressbet.com.

Operating under surreal and silent conditions for the second consecutive day with no public admission due to concerns over the COVID-19 virus, Sunday’s Rainbow 6 was comprised of races three through eight.

Winning numbers and prices in the Rainbow Six sequence were as follows:  R3, #6 $8.40, R4, #5 $8.60, R5 #9 $9.40, R6 #5 $11.00, R7 #2 $45.60 and Race 8, #5, $26.60.

Owned by both Headley and Matson Racing, Zillinda, a 6-year-old California-bred mare by Cyclotron, had one win from 24 starts coming into today’s $12,500 claimer for older fillies and mares at six furlongs.

Run over a main track listed as “good,” Zillinda, who was ridden by Ruben Fuentes, rallied to outfinish Queen Carmelita, who was also “live” in the Single Ticket Jackpot, by a neck.

With a carryover from Saturday of $315,194, there was $138,838 in new money bet today, creating a total Jackpot pool of $454,032.00.

Entries will be taken on Tuesday for Friday, with first post time set for 1 p.m.  Again, due to public health decrees from local, county, state and federal health officials, there will be no public admission to Santa Anita, for morning training or afternoon racing, until further notice.
