$2,228,138 In Rainbow 6 Jackpot Sunday At Gulfstream

The 20-cent Rainbow 6 went unsolved for the 43rd consecutive racing day at Gulfstream Park Saturday, producing a carryover jackpot of $2,228,137.95 for Sunday’s 11-race card.

Multiple tickets with six winners were each worth $981.44 Saturday.

The carryover jackpot is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.

A total of $339,595 was bet into the Rainbow 6 Saturday, when wagering on the six-race sequence started with a carryover of $2,146,645 from Friday’s program.

Sunday’s Rainbow 6 sequence will span Races 6-11, highlighted by the $75,000 Thirsty Fish, a 7 ½-furlong turf stakes for 3-year-olds carded as Race 9. Eddie Plesa Jr.-trained Vow Me Now, who captured the English Channel Stakes last time out, is scheduled to take on 11 rivals, including Jose Pinchin-trained Jackson, a stakes winner in his last two races on dirt who has been second in two starts on turf.

The co-featured $75,000 Nicole’s Dream, a five-furlong turf stakes for fillies and mares carded as Race 5, will be headlined by Ralph Nicks-trained Violent Times, a versatile daughter of Violence who came off a six-month layoff to win an off-the turf  optional claiming allowance last time out.
