13-Time Venezuelan Champion Jaramillo Rides 1,000th North American Winner

Jockey Emisael Jaramillo registered his 1,000th victory in North America Saturday when he guided Loriloupies to victory in the third race at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Fla. It was one of four winners on the day for Jaramillo.

A 43-year-old Venezuelan, Jaramillo rode more than 4,000 winners in his native country – where he was a 13-time champion – before venturing to South Florida in 2015. He has ridden more than 200 winners in each of the last four years, primarily at Gulfstream and Gulfstream Park West.

Earlier this year Jaramillo won the Herecomesthebride (G3) and Sweetest Chant (G3) aboard Cheermeister. He’s also won the Mac Diarmida (G2), Smile Sprint (G2) and Amsterdam (G2).

Leading Owner Arindel Stays Hot

Leading owner Arindel continued its success Saturday with its third winner in two days as Nach Papa won the second race. Arindel also won the first two juvenile races of the year when Gatsby and Quinoa Tifah both won their debuts the middle of April.

Gatsby, Key Biscayne and Nacho Papa were all by Arindel’s Brethren, who has also produced graded-stakes winner Cookie Dough, stakes winner Scraps, and debut track-record holder Nacho Mama.
