‘100 Percent’ Stormy Liberal Remains On Target For Dubai

Champion Stormy Liberal had his connections worried when he slipped in his 2019 debut, then finished second in an allowance race meant to springboard him toward the G1 Al Quoz Sprint at the end of March in Dubai. According to drf.com, however, the 7-year-old gelding emerged from the Santa Anita turf race none the worse for the wear.

“He’s fine,” trainer Peter Miller said. “We were very concerned, obviously, when he looked like he slipped. Thank goodness, he’s 100 percent.”

The two-time winner of the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint, Stormy Liberal has won 12 of his 32 starts for earnings of over $1.9 million. In last year’s Al Quoz, the gelding finished second by a half-length to Jungle Cat.
